On the 29th & 30th of March, Shoreline took its production of Shakespeare’s Classic Comedy to the stage of Volcano Theatre.
In one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, the beautiful and gentle Bianca has no shortage of admirers – but her father insists that she will not marry until her shrewish sister, Katherina, is betrothed. Bianca’s suitors persuade fortune-seeker Petruchio to court her – offering to pay for any costs involved and promising a large sum for Katherina’s dowry. After an eventful exchange, Petruchio marries Katherina and when the ‘happy’ couple arrive at his country house, the newly-wedded Petruchio intends to browbeat his wife into submission by denying her food, sleep and other essentials – but the question remains, can Kate ever be tamed?
“The Taming Of The Shrew” was directed by Jack Coates, Joe Nathan and James Beaumont.
